COSTERNATION AND COMMOTION
The images of the fighting, of the wounded and of the coffins deeply touched the Italians. The pain of the relatives of the victims and fellow soldiers put together the Italians in a spontaneous participation for the loss of young lives.
A large part of public opinion pushed for the withdrawal of ITALFOR.
On July 11, the Government decided to continue IBIS, emphasizing its humanitarian character. A dispute arose with the UN and the USA, culminating in the transfer of the Italian Command to Balad and the rotation of the "FOLGORE" Airborne Brigade.
